frequently asked questions

Why hire a professional?

There are many things to consider when looking for someone to paint at your event. You want people to talk about how great it was and impress your guests with quality artwork, right? It pays to hire someone who is experienced, regularly upgrading their skills and can provide exceptionally quick, beautiful designs bringing the WOW factor to your event.

A professional will only use cosmetic grade face paint and glitter made for application on skin. Many products labelled “for face painting” may cause skin irritations. Just because it is labelled “non toxic” does not mean it is suitable for skin. Beware of people using acrylic paints or craft glitter.

Hygiene is very important. I only use one sponge per child and always have sanitiser in my water. I change my water often and will not paint over broken or irritated skin as I do not wish to spread infection or contaminate my products. I also take time to disinfect my brushes and spongers after every job.

When hiring a face painter, you want someone who is reliable, will turn up on time, be friendly and patient with your children, and paint a wide range of designs quickly and efficiently.

How many faces can you paint in a hour?

For parties and corporate events, I can paint 12-15 beautifully detailed designs per hour. For large events I try and keep the face painting designs smaller and simpler to get through everybody quicker but can generally get through around 20 faces per hour.

What sort of paints do you use?

I only use cosmetic grade make-up products. All brands I use are professional quality face paint that is gentle on the skin. It’s water based make-up, similar to foundation with color in it.

How can the face paint be removed?

Face paints can be removed with water, a little bit of soap or make up cleanser and a face washer. It can also be removed with baby wipes.
For stubborn colours, try rubbing the skin with a drop of olive oil.

Are you insured and do you have a Working with Children’s check?

Yes - I have $30 million public liability insurance and a current Working with Children Check. Copies of PLI or WWC available on request.

I might need more than one face painter for my event, can you help?

Hosting a large event and need more than one artist? I have a network of reliable professional artists that I like to work with and am happy to organise extra artists for your event. I can also source balloonists or other roving artists you may require. All artists I provide have current Public Liability Insurance, Working With Children checks and Covid Safe Plan in place.
